All About Mrs. McMurtrie

Hi!!

My name is Mrs. McMurtrie and I am a Kindergarten teacher at Queen's School!!  This is  my seventh year here and I LOVE it!!  It helps that I work with some fabulous teachers...some of whom I had when I went to school here myself:)  I have four WONDERFUL kids; Taylor (12), CJ (10), Michael (7), and Joseph (5).  Taylor is starting her first year at Lumen this year! The boys all attend school here so it is nice to get to see them throughout the day:)

I received my bachelors degree in elementary education from Spring Arbor University with an endorsement in Early Childhood.  I am currently taking classes to go towards a degree in Reading:)

I absolutely love teaching Kindergarten!  Kindergarten is such an important year for children!  As they playfully create stories, castles and paintings with one another, they develop their own ideas and learn how to work collaboratively.

A year of kindergarten is a learning process in which children imagine what they want to do, create a project based on their ideas (using blocks, finger paint or other materials), play with their creations, share their ideas and creations with others, and reflect on their experiences.  All of these help their little minds imagine new ideas and new projects.  This learning process is great preparation for this fast-changing society, in which people must continually come up with innovative solutions to unexpected situations in their lives.
